Spring is in the air...or at least it's supposed to be? It has been in the high 30's but the warm 30's as I like to say...it's New England, if you don't like the weather, wait a minute!

Things have been Topsy-turvy these days, daylight savings, ides of March and St. Patrick's day! Haven't had much time to dedicate to anything, but thought I would wish everyone a Happy Spring! Hope that the new season brings new life and new things...and street cleaning! It's looking pretty grimy from the long snowy winter...saw some crocus today!

I figure if I start now I can knit a little something for everyone in my family! An ambitious goal, I know but it could be possible!

The house is decorated!

Well it's that time of year again and I left my shopping to the last minute...I am venturing out tomorrow with my pals Punkin and Becca to tackle Harvard Square and a few more diversions. I am scaling way back this year...just fun little things. We have so much and when we need something we generally just go and buy it so I was thinking...hummm... does anyone need a Jesus nightlight? Toilet paper roll cover to put on the back of the commode (sp?)? Something a little more domestic like an apron? Or perhaps a baked good, nah! Like I have time for that, urgh! There are only four more days left! As for consumption, just eat a lot of cookies and forget trying to find the perfect holiday jumper!

I made the ginger bread house with guidance from my pal Mary Clare, she is the most naturally craftiest person I know...she inspires everyone she meets, ty MC!

Bunker Hill...day 4 of filming...

A new TNT TV pilot called "Bunker Hill" is being filmed in Boston. My neighborhood has been inundated with film crews and trucks for a few days now, actually 4 days...They haven't been to intrusive and they have been leaving the area cleaner than it was. I can't wait till it airs...One thing I did read was they wanted to film in Boston for the whole series...Donnie Wahlberg acting and producing as well as Brian Dennehy and Bridget Moynahan.

Craftland in Providence

This is my hometown...and boy has it come a long way...



Went to visit CRAFTLAND! Local and not so local artists sell handmade articles. They have something for everyone...t-shirts, bags, baby stuff and greeting card...too many to mention...they have also made things from recycled materials...it is worth a trip. There are also many new boutiques and gift shops downtown...

Vacation outing!

My friend Becca and I took a trek out to Historic Salem Mass....
We visited a fellow knitter we met on our Rhinebeck trip. She works at a shop called the Seed Stitch Fine Yarn, and that it is!!!

Coming off Rhinebeck made it less tempting to buy MORE yarn but I did manage to pick up a skein of Blue Sky alpaca...it's a heather icy blue and sooo soft...
I am thinking of some fingerless mitts for Bert...

..and some Brittney cable needles...

It is a beautiful space with a wide range of, you guessed it, YARN...they have yarn for everyone and budget! They also carry little gift things too! Becca picked up a cute pair of scissors that look like a bunny and stand up...The ears are the blades and they put feet on the finger holes so they can stand on a surface...

Here are some things I got in Rhinebeck...



These are yarns from Briar Rose...left is Grandma's blessing and right limited edition 100% Alpaca...yummy stuff!

This is from Creative Dyed yarn.It was way in the back all by itself and I think the prettiest one there...it's pale lavender, blue and greens with a navy blue thread wrap...don't know the technical terms of spinning...

This is what I went to Rhinebeck for; introducing BABY ALPACA! It is brown with grey...I purchased this from Seaport Yarn. They carry tones of stuff!!! It was one of the first booths I encountered and I wanted to buy it all!!!!

Bah, ram, ewe.....Rhinebeck!!!!

Well it was great! We had gobs of fun and learned somethings too!
1. Sheep are not very smart

3. Alpaca's are really, really cute...
4. There is enough yarn in the world for everyone!

This is a sleeping ram, you bet I didn't want to be eye to eye if he suddenly woke up....He was HUGE! His head was the size of my torso, and this is pretty big....

Planning a trip...

October 18-19, I am making the trek to the New York Sheep and Wool Festival. We are going by bus through Tactile Travel. The package includes transportation to festival, board and dinner and breakfast the next day.

I hope my friends stop me BEFORE I but a sheep!!!

My list so far:

1. Breath
2. Stay calm, there is enough wool for everyone.
3. Keep breathing
4. Don't forget to eat
5. Don't buy a sheep or baby alpaca no matter how cute they are!

I turned 40 today

I want to say thank to all my friends and co-workers for a fun day! My buddy Becca made the cake, yummy! She is the only friend that was able to pull off surprising me!
